Wood Green Youth Hub

A new youth hub in Wood GreenWood Green Youth Hub artwork cartoon

We are creating a new youth hub in Wood Green for young people aged 11-19 or 11-25 for young people with special education needs.

The new hub will be in the former Matalan store, 2B Lymington Avenue, N22 6JA. The building is currently being refurbished and the youth hub will be opening in summer 2022.

This project is part-funded by the Mayor of London’s Good Growth Fund (external link)

Wood Green Young Voices

For several weeks we have been working with a group of local young people called the Wood Green Young Voices - listening to their stories, asking them how they see Wood Green and how a new youth hub in the area would look and feel for them.

Through a series of design workshops, the Young Voices shared their thoughts and creativity to produce 5 brilliant options for the name of the new youth hub. Now we want you to have your say by telling us what you think about each one and what you think the hub should be called!

We are especially interested to hear from young people who live in Haringey.

What should the new Youth Hub be called?

Wood Green Youth Hub artwork cartoon (2)The suggested names are:

  • Rising Green
The Wood Green Young Voices thought it would be good to include ‘Green’ in the name, as a reference to Wood Green. Rising Green is inspired by growing up and being raised in Wood Green – ‘made in Wood Green’.
  • The Green
The Wood Green Young Voices thought it would be good to include ‘Green’ in the name, as a reference to Wood Green. The Green reminds us of playing on the common and of free green spaces – ‘playing on the green’.
  • Heatwaves
The Wood Green Young Voices thought about the history of production, creativity and broadcast in Haringey (Ally Pally, BBC transmission station). Heatwaves comes from the enthusiasm, passion and vibrancy of young people – ‘making waves’ and creating change.
  • Young Pulse
The Wood Green Young Voices thought about the history of production, creativity and broadcast in Haringey (Ally Pally, BBC transmission station). Young Pulse is inspired by music, rhythms and beats mixed with the energy brought by young people.
  • Our Hub
The Wood Green Young Voices thought about the idea of community and friendly environments. Our Hub comes from the idea of having a focal point, something shared and that belongs to everyone.
