Child protection means protecting young people from physical, emotional or sexual abuse or neglect.

If you, or someone you know, is a victim of neglect, abuse or cruelty, then contact a social worker in the Children and Young People’s Service Referral and Assessment Team.

The LSCB brings together each of the main organisations who work with children and families in the borough of Haringey, with the aim of ensuring that we work together effectively to keep children safe. The LSCB replaces the ACPC or Area Child Protection Committee.

Partners in Haringey's LSCB include senior representatives from:

  • Haringey Council's Children's Service
  • Haringey Teaching Primary Care Trust
  • North Middlesex and Whittington hospitals
  • Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust
  • Metropolitan Police Service
  • London Probation Service
  • Haringey Youth Offending Service
  • and a wide range of agencies from the private and voluntary sectors.

The NSPCC works with disabled children, young people and their families who have been affected by child abuse, offering a counselling and support service.

They carry out specialist assessments for Haringey Social Services in complex child protection cases.

Initial contact to the NSPCC can be by telephone or fax, or referral from Haringey Social Services.
