Who are HYPCS?
We are a team of professional and qualified Counsellors working with young people living in Haringey.
Our service provides one to one therapy and group work to young people living in Haringey who may be ‘at risk’, vulnerable and in need. These young people may include:
- looked after children
- young offenders
- young parents
- care leavers
- young carers.
We offer young people the space to explore their difficulties which include:
- relationship difficulties
- loss/separation
- domestic violence
- offending behaviour
- abuse/violence
- mental/emotional distress
- substance misuse
- school/social exclusion
This is with the aim to increase self esteem and confidence. As well as allowing young people to make sense of their situation and make their own decisions. Being allowed to express ourselves in a safe, confidential environment is the first step to dealing with thoughts and feelings of difficulty.
We also offer personal development accredited group work on a range of topics relevant to young people. They cover issues such as:
- dealing with anger
- assertiveness training
- communication skills
- bullying
- relationships
- and much more.
This is with the aim to equip young people with essential life skills and enhance young people's emotional well being.

|Back to topWhat is Counselling?
Counselling gives you the space and freedom to talk about your feelings and about things that are important to you.
Our counsellors will listen and help you make sense of things.
We'll help you to understand and take control of a situation, so you can make your own decisions.
Talking about things may seem hard to do, but doing this is the first step to dealing with feelings of despair.
|Back to topAdditional information
We receive referrals from a range of agencies such as Social Services, Youth Inclusion Programme, Safer Schools Partnership, Young Carers, Adolescent Outreach Team and other agencies working with young people.
